Alleged Burglar Gets Stuck in Oven Vent

By Associated Press

Investigators said Lonnie Shields, 37, climbed into a small vent on the roof of the New City Mart at about 2 a.m. and wasn’t found until store employees arrived at about 8 a.m.

Shields, who faces charges of burglary of a structure, was treated at a nearby hospital and booked into Orange County Jail on $1,000 bond.

“He was banged up and crunched up and uncomfortable from being in that pipe for about six hours,” Orlando fire chief Greg Hoggatt said.

Live

Some of us live a stagnant life. We don’t find our passion and go after it, instead we get stagnant and waist away. What motivates you, what do you enjoy, what drives you? When you realize these things do them. Go after them. Sure, it may take some time to find out what these things are but you must search and experiment with different things. Don’t let anyone put a time constraint on this either. This has nothing to do with anyone but you. This your thing. This is your time to live.

Success Principle #1

February 1, 2006

What is really needed for success? From studying many books and observing the successful people I come in contact with on a daily basis I have learned 17 principles that are needed to be successful. I will discuss only the first of these principles today and then continue shortly in the future.

The first of these principles of success is a Positive Mental Attitude. In the world we live in there are negative influences everywhere. We are broken down with negative talk from friends, family, and work mates. We watch television and there it is. We watch the news and there it is. What percentage of the evening news is positive? A very small percentage. I am almost apt to beleive that no news is good news. Regardless of all this we must maintain a positive attitude. We are able to influence the outcome of tomorrow by doing everything in a positive manor.

1. Speak positive words and phrases.

2. Think positive thoughts.

3. Do positive things that will in turn produce positive results.

I never claim to have all the answers but I do know for sure that these and other practices you will read on this blog can only help to provide positive results and move you closer to success.

Essential for Leaders

My church usually has a mid-week service every Wednesday. Tonight one of our members discussed the leadership principles found in Exodus 18 where Jethro meets Moses. Instead of discussing all his points I will list a few of the leadership principles found in Exodus 18.

Leaders should:

1. Be open to questions.

2. Not be over burdened.

3. Teach and show the way.

4. Delegate well but do not delegate your primary responsibility.

5. Fear God and not men and do not be so concerned about what men say.

6. Raise up leaders.

I highly suggest reading the above verse in order to truly understand these principles.

Bundle branch what?

October 5, 2005

OK…here it is. I don’t want to go into how this started but if you read the previous post you will notice I was in the emergency room because of chest pains. I found out later last night that I had a bundle branch block which can be mild or severe. Fortunately mine was mild and did not lead to serious heart injury or problems. For more information on a bundle branch block you can look at the American Heart Association website.

I want to make sure it is understood that what has happened to me is not serious but it is a wake up call to let me know that I have to take care of myself. Excercise is tremendously important and so is a balanced diet. Now for the main cause of my issue. Stress, my friends, is a killer. I would suggest that you learn and understand what stress is. This is something I will be focusing on for a while personaly. We sometimes think that we are not stressed if we don’t feel pressured, not so, stress comes in many forms. I hope to teach as I learn. Anyway, take care of yourselves.

Emergency room blogging

October 4, 2005

Well this is my first time posting a blog via my blackberry. Unfortunately this is because I have no choice as I am sitting in the emergency room of Orange Park Medical due to chest pains. I think I’m fine but you can never be too careful. Why am I blogging if I’m in the emergency room? To that I say, “Have you ever been in an emergency room?” You waite for hours and it’s no fun. I had this one nurse tried to take my blood and she says the vien blew on her, needless to say she got no blood. Then the expert sticker came in and did a pretty good job. You also get a good idea just how many people suffer from pain and other illness in this world. What I saw tonight was a small speck of the grief the sick go through. May God have mercy on them all. Well it was not bad using the blackberry. Anyway like I said I should be fine. Enjoy the rest of this blog site. Happy blogging.

Jerk that chicken

October 2, 2005

Yesterday I had some friends over for the night. We have been friends for quite a while. Our friendship began in Jamaica and it was so much fun reminiscing about good times on the beautiful island.

We talked about pulling off to the side of the road and eating jerk chicken and/or jerk pork for example. There was a specific spot called faith’s Pen that was as it seemed a plaza of jerk or pan chicken as it is often called as well. The little wooden shacks where they made the pan chicken was nothing to write home about but meant a lot to those who owned them as it was the pride and joy, it was there business. When we would pull over to buy our meal it was a difficult task to choose which one out of the eight different jerk chicken shops we should go to. Somehow they all did OK. After purchasing our chicken or pork served with bread, we had a choice of sitting by the shop and eating it there or taking it with us to enjoy on the way to our destination. I guarantee we always stayed and ate there, we just could not wait. Getting in the car before we started eating would be too long to wait for such an awesome meal. Man, we miss those days.

Describing the task of jerk chicken with it’s pure Jamaican spice would difficult to do on paper because the description would be incomplete. So, click here for a recipe to try it on your own.

It may not mean as much to you as it does me and my friends but I am sure you will have your own experience and it will mean something specific to you.
