Choose your investment technique

September 30, 2005

Many people have aspired to be investors in real estate including me. Some have followed their dreams and went on to build great wealth. Others have failed because they failed to begin.

I have had many dreams and have been successful in accomplishing some of them but failed miserably on others. Win or lose however, I can always say “I tried”. Pity the man who failed because he never tried.

Many things can temped you not to invest in real estate. The so called risk is the most prevalent. But what about not knowing where to start? Real estate investing comes in many different flavors so it is important to find out which one suites you best.

Here are a few of the most common types of investing:

Rehabbing or flipping
Finder/funder
Lease/purchase
New construction

There are probably 300 different techniques for investing in real estate and naturally it could be difficult to figure out which is best for you which I suppose just takes time.

Spend some time researching these four techniques to begin with. You will learn a great deal about real estate and the business of investing will soon become easier and you will be able to zone in on a specialty. Then you will be confident in which direction to go when you get started.
